Silicon Nitride Balls are a new material suitable for applications where high loads, high speeds and extreme temperatures are factors. Long life and the need for no lubrication makes this material very suitable for aviation applications. Silicon Nitride is anti-magnetic and resistant to corrosion by most substances.
Silicon Nitride Balls are used in processing equipment to improve bearing performance. It is lighter, stiffer, smoother, harder, and corrosion resistant, require less lubrication, and have a lower thermal expansion than their steel counterparts which allow the bearing to run at higher speeds and higher operational temperatures with lower torque.
